A quelques jours du lancement de la saison 5 de Doctor Who sur la BBC, Steven Moffat, scénariste en chef qui a pris la suite de Russel T. Davies, n'abaisse pas sa garde devant un journaliste du Guardian. Au contraire, sur les changements qui pourraient toucher la BBC en cas de victoire des conservateurs lors des prochaines élections, il interpelle les anglais :
Are we really going to put James Murdoch in place of [the BBC]? Can you imagine how shit everything would be? Never mind the fine and glorious things that the BBC does, imagine how shit everything would be! Stuff would be shit! Let's not have really good restaurants, let's have Kentucky Fried Chicken!
Pas question non plus de vendre son âme au diable concernant le Docteur, cette machine marketing très bien rodée qu'il dit ne pas vouloir nourrir dans un opportunisme motivé par des jolis billets :
